Job Title: Apartment Manager
Location: Johnson City/Bristol
Program: Rental Management
Education/Experience Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required. Must have valid Tennessee driver’s license and proof of insurance on automobile. Computer literacy, including strong word processing, spreadsheet and internet skills. Able to deal tactfully with the public, tenants and co-workers, and to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists all who wish to apply for tenancy at a complex.
  • Maintains facility in a clean and safe condition, insures that all repairs are completed as needed, grounds are maintained and facilities are secure.
  • Completes and maintains appropriate paperwork and files on tenants, including rent collection charts and purchasing accounts.
  • Ensures the facility is in full compliance with all federal, state and local ordinances, regulations and codes.
  • Actively communicates with all tenants and provides a minimum amount of assistance to make sure they are maintaining normal health habits.
  • Coordinates transportation, recreational activities and social services as instructed.
  • Collects, records and deposits rent and security deposit money.
  • Completes appropriate paperwork to move residents in and out of apartments.

Job Title:
Academic Year Facilitators (8 positions)
Location: Carson Newman University
Program: Upward Bound
Education/Experience Qualifications: Required: Current college student with at least 30 earned credit hours and/or recent college graduate. Preferred: Upperclassmen with at least 60 earned credit hours and experience navigating the trials of college enrollment and persistence. Experience and/or understanding of the problems and concerns of low-income, first generation and minority students. People oriented; good organizational and communication skills; knowledgeable in discipline area; ability to maintain accurate record keeping; and ability to motivate students in an academic subject matter or related instructional area that corresponds to study skills.  

Job Summary: Facilitators will provide appropriate instruction within specific academic subject areas and/or areas that correspond with the appropriate program strategies, such as ACT prep, financial literacy, career planning, college planning, etc.  Facilitators will work with students ONE Saturday per month at Carson Newman University.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Instruct and supervise students assigned to classes;
  • Provide continuous feedback on student success/weakness to the Director and Lead Educational Advisor;
  • Deliver classes on schedule and in a manner which effectively motivates changes in students and promotes favorable attitudes;
  • Maintain appropriate student records;
  • Comply with all rules, policies and procedures of the Agency;
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and Agency information;
  • It is an essential function of this job to get along with others, to be civil toward others and not threaten anyone’s safety, to be respectful of managers, co-workers and subordinates;

Degree in Early Childhood Education or related degree and experience teaching preschool children is required. Supervises and interacts with children in all daily activities; makes home visits; conducts parent-teacher conferences; organizes classroom and maintains a safe and healthy learning environment; observes, assesses, refers, and evaluates each child’s progress and plans/implements classroom activities based on individual needs; maintains classroom discipline using positive guidance techniques. Education/Experience Qualifications: Previous experience in light maintenance work such as plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry repairs. Possess good general mechanical aptitude and prior experience in apartment maintenance. Minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Must have and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license and proof of liability insurance on  automobile. Ability to deal tactfully with staff and tenants, make good decisions and give careful attention to work. Must live on-site in apartment provided at complex.

Duties and Responsibilities: Performs light maintenance duties such as minor plumbing, painting, electrical or carpentry repairs. Changes return air filters on regular basis and light bulbs as needed. Mows grass on property as necessary. Trims plants and shrubs as needed, may use weed eater. Rakes leaves, removes limbs, debris, cleans sidewalks as needed in all seasons. Picks up trash around buildings. May clean gutters. May accompany pest control or other contract service workers as needed. Responds to after-hour emergency calls if present on property.

Job Description: Assists Lead Tutor/Parent Training Specialist in planning and conducting after school tutorial activities following program guidelines and protocol. Provides continuous feedback of student’s success/weakness to lead tutor/parent training specialist throughout tutorial/parenting activities. Collects data for evaluation as required by lead tutor/parent training specialist. Delivers programs and services on schedule and in a manner which effectively motivates changes in students and promotes favorable attitudes. Conducts on-going working relationships with teachers of enrolled students to ascertain academic and social skill weaknesses. Is non-judgmental and has a respect for and understanding of the Appalachian and/or Hispanic culture as relative to target group.
Education/Experience Qualifications: Must possess a High School diploma or GED. Preference will be given to the individuals holding an Associate’s Degree and/or experience working with students in an academic setting. Must have a valid Tennessee driver’s license and proof of liability insurance on automobile. Spanish bilingual preferred in some programs.
