Teacher Assistant – full-time, averages 30 hours/week, school year

Prefer ECE degree or CDA; individual enrolled in a program leading to CDA or degree or a degree in any area considered; High School diploma or GED and immediate ability to obtain CDA or degree in accordance with the Head Start Act required. Assist teacher with supervision and interaction with children. May assist with home visits and parent-teacher conferences; help organize classroom and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment. Will act as immediate supervisor in the teacher’s absence. For centers with bus routes, Bus monitor (drives bus as required).must have valid TN driver’s license; be at least 21; been driving for 5 years; able to pass a DOT physical; and able to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) following employment- teacher assistants at drive-in centers may be required to obtain a CDL. On-Site Maintenance

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in light maintenance work such as plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry repairs.
  • Possess good general mechanical aptitude and prior experience in apartment maintenance.
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license and proof of liability insurance on automobile.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with staff and tenants, make good decisions and give careful attention to work.
  • Must live on site in apartment provided at complex.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs light maintenance duties such as minor plumbing, painting, electrical or carpentry repairs.
  • Changes return air filters on regular basis and light bulbs as needed.
  • Mows grass on property as necessary. Trims plants and shrubs as needed, may use weed eater.
  • Rakes leaves, removes limbs, debris, cleans sidewalks as needed in all seasons.
  • Picks up trash around buildings. May clean gutters.
  • Cleans, sweeps, mops and empties trash in office building area.
  • Prepares apartment for new tenant after previous tenant moves out. May involve painting, cleaning and minor repair.
  • May accompany pest control or other contracted service workers as needed.
  • Responds to after-hour emergency calls if present on property.

Apartment Manager

  • Able to deal tactfully with the public, tenants and co-workers, and to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists all who wish to apply for tenancy at a complex.
  • Maintains facility in a clean and safe condition, insures that all repairs are completed as needed, grounds are maintained and facilities are secure.
  • Completes and maintains appropriate paperwork and files on tenants, including rent collection charts and purchasing accounts.
  • Ensures that facility is in full compliance with all federal, state and local ordinances, regulations and codes.
  • Actively communicates with all tenants and provides a minimum amount of assistance to make sure they are maintaining normal health habits.
  • Coordinates transportation, recreational activities and social services as instructed.
  • Collects, records and deposits rent and security deposit money.

Education/Experience Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in educational or human/social services field with previous training or experience in academic or career counseling, assessment methods, knowledge of financial aid and college admissions processes. One to three years of experience is preferred.
  • Strong public relations skills, energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated and good communications skills.
  • Computer proficiency is a must and experience with client software and internet usage is helpful.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Screens participants for eligibility, assesses needs and enrolls them in project.
  • Provides one-on-one assistance with financial aid and college admissions processes.
  • Conducts financial aid and college/career workshops in target counties.
  • Refers participants to ABE/GED/adult high schools and other support services as necessary.
  • Establishes and maintains coordinating relationships with service providers serving special needs groups with all post-secondary institutions, GED/ABE programs, Adult High schools and high schools in target counties.
  • Establishes, provides orientation and meets with advisory committees on a quarterly basis.
