"WIA" Youth Development Program |
for Greene and Hamblen Counties |
The purpose of the WIA Youth Development Program in Greene and Hamblen Counties is to provide free services to low-income youth ages 16-21 who face barriers in completion of high school or with obtaining employment. A broad range of coordinated services are available to assist youth in meeting these academic and career goals. These services include, but are not limited to: |

2. alternative secondary school services |
3. paid and unpaid work experience |
4. summer employment |
5. leadership development |
6. mentoring |
7. occupational skills training |
8. guidance and counseling services |
9. support services |
10. follow-up services provided for one year |
Clients Eligible: Clients must be from low-income households and have one or more barriers to obtaining and maintaining suitable employment. These barriers are defined as a client being: (1)deficient in basic literary skills, (2) a high school dropout, (3) homeless, a runaway, or a foster child, (4) a pregnant or parenting teen, (5) an offender, or (6) in need of additional assistance to complete an educational program or to secure and maintain employment. |
