Technical Assistance and Training Program

Eligible Clients: Cities, Counties and Nonprofit Organizations that are HUD grantees, or potential grantees, under the HOME and Homeless Programs in the states of Tennessee and Kentucky.
   
The program is a free service that is funded by HUD to build the capacity of nonprofits and government agencies to successfully access and utilize HUD's CHDO (HOME) and Homeless programs to undertake affordable housing development for the benefit of low-income families and individuals. Technical Assistance and training is designed according to each recipient's housing and/or community development needs and can include, but is not limited to, the following:
   
  • Strategic Planning
  • Board or staff training
  • Assistance in identifying funding sources
  • Understanding contracts and grants
  • On-site consultations with construction specialists
  • Identify and facilitate the partnership of governmental, private and public sector organizations in meeting community housing and economic development needs
  • Determining client eligibility and rental payments
  • Referral to other community resources
  • Assistance in setting up effective financial system
  • Facilitate the creation and development of community-based organizations
