Community Based Abstinence Program

Funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families

Total Funding Amount: $623,000 Annually

 

The Community Based Abstinence Education Grant consists of five sites located at and serving students enrolled in East High School, Meadowview, Lincoln Heights, East Ridge and Westview Middle Schools. This project is designed to address problems of high teen pregnancy and sexual activity rates in teens in Hamblen County. The goal of the grant is to promote abstinence until marriage for 2,000 youth age 12-18. The program will implement culturally competent school-based, curriculum focusing on Abstinence until Marriage Education, using the "Worth the Wait" and the "Quinceanera" curriculum.
