Lottery for Education: Afterschool Programs (LEAPs)
Funded by the Tennessee Department of Education
Total Funding Amount: $623,000 Annually
DCEA currently receives funding for LEAPs consisting of 7 sites within Hamblen and Union Counties. Each site is staffed by a lead tutor/parent training specialist and, at minimum, three additional tutors. Volunteers are also recruited to assist with program activities. In Hamblen County, Hispanic Language Learners also receive individualized ELL/ESL instruction. Other activities include character education, arts and music programs, and recreational activities for students; as well as parent involvement activities. Individual site information is listed below:
